Local Labor Dispute

Champaign, IL – September 29, 2015

Clifford-Jacobs Forging Company, an IMT Company, confirmed today it has reached an impasse in labor negotiations with three (3) union locals. A four (4) year Collective Bargaining Agreement expired at 7:00a.m. today after all parties had agreed to a one-day extension.

“We will take all reasonable measures to ensure continued business operations,” states Clifford-Jacobs’ Human Resources Manager Jeff Baker. A representative from the unions informed Clifford-Jacobs the unions had authorized a strike Monday evening.

“We respect collective bargaining and believe a mutually agreed to contract should be part of that process. Clifford-Jacobs is dedicated to continue providing quality service to our customers while also working diligently to obtain an
agreement”, Baker adds.

Clifford-Jacobs is a dependable mainstay to the industrial area which lies north of the City of Champaign and has been in business for over 90 years. “Keeping good paying jobs right here in Champaign County is very important during these times of economic uncertainty,” Baker adds. “We desire to remain in a position to meet our customers’ needs,” states Baker.

“We continue to be available to talk with the unions about contract proposals. Clifford-Jacobs hopes we can have a signed contract that is beneficial to our customers and employees as well as the company,” states Baker.

Unions covered in the Clifford-Jacobs labor contract that expired initially on September 28 include International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #601, International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers, Local #1626 and International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Local #431.

Clifford-Jacobs is a world-class leader in the closed die forging of parts for a wide variety of commercial, industrial, military, oil and gas, aerospace and mining applications.
